Kota Sarees or Kota Doria saris are made in the town of Kota, Rajasthan. Very fine and thin Cotton and Silk threads are woven together in a unique way to create checkered patterns with square gaps called Khats. So Kota Doria fabric is light and airy. Kota Silk and Cotton sarees are featherlight. Rajasthan royalty used Kota Doria fabric for turbans centuries ago, and later got it woven as sarees for their queens.
