Gopalpur Tussar Silk Sarees

Gopalpur Tussar Silk Sarees hail from the Village bearing the same name located in Odisha's Jaipur District, are well-known for their beauty and high quality.  These sarees have been recognized by the Indian Government in 2009.

The sarees are famous for their textured and lustrous appearance. They have beautiful kumbha or temple borders and are famous for their statement Pallus adorned with intricate ikat designs. Creating these sarees involves a careful process. Skilled workers start by designing and preparing the fabric. Then, expert women who are skilled in handling silk threads use a tool called 'Natai' to spin and twist the threads. This step is very important as it gives the sarees their unique texture.
