Pure Handloom Banarasi Silk Sarees – Lavish Motifs & Floral Borders

Overview

Handloom Banarasi sarees are weaved with intricate motifs, rich base colours, and lavish broad silken borders from the weavers of ancient city of Varanasi or Banaras. The finest traditional sarees in India feel weighty because of their elaborate needlework, making them perfect for elegant weddings or huge festivals.

The tana (warp) is the longitudinal thread and the bana (weft) is the latitudinal threads that are traditionally placed in a shuttle when weaving authentic Banarasi sarees on jacquard pit looms. The warp and weft threads are woven together as the shuttle makes back-and-forth motions. Organza, Georgette, Chiffon, Chiniya silk, Katan silk, Kora silk and Tissue silk are the types of fabric used to make gorgeous Banarasi sarees.

Beauty of Banarasi sarees

An original Banarasi saree took up to a year to weave, originally crafted exclusively for royalty, using genuine silk fabric. These sarees have a lengthy history and available in a variety of yarns, weaves, patterns, and motifs. Handloom Banarasi sarees have a distinctive embossed appearance, often created using golden zari but occasionally incorporating silk threads.

Handloom Banarasi sarees are recognised for their brilliant textures, gorgeous brocades with engraved-like patterns, jewel-toned hues, and magnificent zari accents that represent centuries of cultural richness. The very valuable and gorgeous Banarasi sarees are made using a complex weaving procedure, premium raw materials, and secretive techniques. Banarasis enjoy the patronage of brides from Northern and Eastern parts of India.
