Buy Ikat Handloom Sarees - Pochampally, Odisha, Patola & Sambalpur
Ikat is a resist dyeing technique where yarn is "tied" and "dyed" prior to dyeing, weaving the fabric. Ikat means "bind" in Indonesian language (country of origin). Because the design is created in the yarn itself, both sides of an Ikat saree are patterned. Pochampally, Odisha, Patan Patola, Sambalpur are some of the major Ikat sari varieties made by Indian handloom weavers.
