The silk sari weaving industry in Bhagalpur is nearly 200 years old. Home to more than 30,000 highly skilled handloom weavers, Bhagalpur has been called 'Silk City'. The unique dyeing technique used in these sarees sets them apart from Art Silk. In recent years Bhagalpur weavers have started using Linen fabric quite a lot in addition to the traditional Tussar silk.
