Kantha sarees are traditionally worn by women from the Eastern regions of the Indian Subcontinent. It is a type of hand embroidery practiced by rural women folk from Bengal. These days Kantha stitching is also done on churidars, kurtas, dupattas and edges of quilts. Hand stitching on cloth gives it a slightly wrinkled, wavy effect.
