1.    Do you charge for Shipping?

Shipping within India offers free shipping for all prepaid orders above Rs. 2000 per shipment that are shipped to addresses within India.  For prepaid orders less than Rs. 2000, shipping of Rs. 150 per order will be charged

In the case of Cash on Delivery orders an additonal Rs. 200 of COD Charges will be charged for each order.  Cash on Delivery Orders will be accepted for a maximum value of Rs.20000 and upto 3 products per order

The order will be shipped to you fully insured.  Please inspect the package for any damage or tampering before accepting the package or signing the receipt

If your shipping address is within India, your product will be shipped and delivered via one of the following carriers (or) for reasons of operational convenience, by any other equivalent reliable carrier

a.    Fedex
b.    Dotzot / DTDC
c.    Speed Post

Shipping outside India

Shipping Charges will be charged for shipping products outside India.  The Actual rates will vary depending the country / location to which the product is shipped, number of products in the cart and the product type. The following will be the charges for shipping to an address outside India.

I.    Saris – Ranges between Rs. 1000 to Rs. 2200 for every 1 sari
II.    Stoles – Ranges between Rs. 650 to Rs. 1600 for up to 2 stoles in one shipment
III.    Dupattas – Ranges between Rs. 650 to Rs. 1600 for every 1 dupatta
IV.    Unstitched / semi stitched Salwar Suit Set Material – Ranges between Rs. 1000 to Rs. 2200 for every 1 set
V.    Jewellery – Ranges between Rs. 1000 to Rs. 2200 for every 1 Jewellery piece

If your shipping address is outside India, your product will be shipped and delivered via one of the following carriers (or) for reasons of operational convenience, by any other equivalent reliable carrier

a.    Fedex
b.    DHL
c.    Speed Post / EMS

2.    What is the estimated shipping / delivery time

Most products listed on Avishya can be shipped within 7 business days from the date of order. For products which might take longer than 7 days, the estimated shipping days will be specifically mentioned on the product page

If your shipping address is within India, then the estimated delivery time is between  2 to 7 days from the date of shipping

If your shipping address if located outside India, then the estimated delivery time is within 10 days from the date of shipping.  

Estimated Delivery Times are indicative and are based on a large number of factors including several which are not under Avishya’s direct control.  Therefore, the actual delivery time could get delayed.  Avishya cannot be held responsible for delays on account of these external factors like customs clearances, human errors and force de majeure reasons like floods, natural calamities etc.

In the case of custom orders, the estimated shipping time will be informed to you and concurrence taken prior to accepting your order.  

3.    Why does it take 7 days to ship the product?  Can’t you ship earlier?

That products that you purchase from Avishya are put together mostly by hand at various weaving centers / artisan villages located across India.  On receipt of your order, the products have to be shipped from these locations to our office in Chennai. On arrival at the Avishya office they first go through quality checks by our Quality Assurance team before they are packed carefully, insured for safety and only then they are shipped to you.  Hence we definitely need 7 days to ship the product to you

4.    Are there any other charges over and above shipping that I need to pay?

In addition to shipping cost, based on the law of the country of import, our carrier may need to get customs clearance for your goods before delivering them to you.  Any additional taxes / import duties / customs charges levied by the country of import will be chargeable to the customer.  The customer is liable to reimburse the carrier for any such charges paid on behalf of the customer

Similarly, in the case of shipments within India, Octroi or any other local taxes would be paid by the carrier and subsequently collected from the customer

5.    How do I track my order?

All our orders are shipped out within 7 business days from the date of the order.  To check the status of your order, just visit and click on “Track my Order”.  Enter your order number and you can see the status of your order

We’ll also send you an order tracking mail as soon as we ship your product.  This mail will contain the details of the carrier and tracking number of your consignment.  You can use this link and visit the carrier’s website to track the status of the consignment after it has been shipped

In the rare case that we are not able to ship your product within 7 business days, we will call you proactively and keep you informed about the latest status of your shipment

6.     What should I check when the product is delivered to me?

Please check the following things before accepting delivery of the product

a.    Check if the packaging has been tampered with (all our consignments have an outer tamper proof packaging which if opened cannot be put back without visible tear marks)
b.    All our products go through a rigorous quality check before they are shipped to you.  The Quality Check Slip (QC Slip) will be pasted on the inside of the product box.  Please look for the QC slip.  In the rare case where there is discrepancy between the QC Slip and the product, please mail immediately (latest within 24 hours) to
c.    If the package arrives damaged, please ensure that you take photographs of the damaged product / package and mail the same immediately (latest within 24 hours) to along with reference of your order number
d.    It is the nature of all Handwoven / Handcrafted Products to have slight knots, colour / texture variations and minor defects that may vary from product to product. Please be assured that these variations do not alter the strength / stability of the product. If these variations alter the structural strength of the product, they would be rejected during our Quality Check Process.  In fact, these colour / texture variations and knots actually add to the beauty of handcrafted products
e.    If you want to return / exchange a product either because you have received a damaged product or for some other reason, you will need to let us know within 24 hours of the date of delivery of the product

7.    Do you offer Gift Packaging Services?

Yes, we offer Gift Packaging Services.  In case your purchase is intended as a gift, we offer free gift packaging, along with a gift message of your choice.  Your gift will be delivered in distinctive Avishya packaging.  So whether you are ordering a gift to hand over to your loved one , or you want us to deliver it for you, the recipient is sure to be impressed

To send a free gift message with your gift, look for the Gift Message text box in the shopping bag / cart page.  Your personal message will be printed on the card and delivered along with the gift

8.    What if I receive a damaged product?

All products shipped from Avishya go through an extensive quality check process and are packaged securely before they are shipped to you. So, it is unlikely that you receive a damaged product.  However, in the rare instance that a product is damaged during shipping/transit then please take photographs of the damaged package and product and mail the pics within 24 hours to

9.    Can I cancel an order?

Yes, you can cancel an order for most products within 12 hours of placing the order.  However there are some products and circumstances in which cancellations are not permitted

These include but is not limited to:

a)    Blouse Materials
b)    Yardage
c)    Saris where the falls is stitched and / or blouse has been detached / tassles made as per your instructions
d)    Unstitched / semi stitched salwar suits which have been cut and partly / fully stitched by our tailors based on measurements / instructions given by you

10.    What if I receive the order, and want to cancel if afterward?

If you have already accepted delivery of your order and you want to cancel it (applicable only for products / circumstances not limited by point 9 above), Avishya will treat these cancellations as returns.  Learn more about our return / exchange policy.
