The Ilkal sari gets its name from the town of Ilkal in the Bagalkot District of Karnataka. Ilkal saris hold a special place in the sari wardrobe of any Kannadiga woman and was traditionally worn during festivities and ceremonial functions.
Ilkal Saris are typically woven using cotton warp on the body and silk warp on the pallu. The colours that are traditionally used are pomegranate red, parrot green & peacock blue… Bridal Ilkal Saris are made in a special shade of red of “Giri Kumkum”
