Khadi or Khaddar is a term for fabric that has been created using Handspun Yarn. Most people believe that Khadi refers only to Cotton. However this is not true. In addition to cotton Khadi includes silk, wool, linen and other fabrics has been spun into yarn on a spinning wheel called a Charkha.
The hand spinning process results in the creation of an extremely “low-twist” yarn that has a beautiful textured feel and stunning drape.
Khadi has come a long way – from being the “freedom fabric” and the symbol of the Indian Independence movement. Today it is seen to be extremely fashionable and reinterpreted in various forms by designers across India
